Because we are conscious of the construction industry's impact on the environment, we are eager to promote and contribute to more sustainable building practices.
On all Orkney projects, we strive to make greener choices - this includes recycling leftover materials, burying leftover plasterboard, and efficiently using materials on site.
We are also proud to support Trees that Count by donating trees for every large project completed.
With a particular interest in high-performing homes, the Orkney Group founder, Kevin Turley, established 'Green Abode' in 2015. "Kevin Turley, Andrew Grimes and the team from Orkney Construction have carried out extensive work on two of our properties over the past seven years. The work carried out has involved interior and exterior repair and renovation, as well as landscaping work. They have exceeded our expectations both in terms of the standard of building work and their professionalism and dedication.
Works at our Brooklyn home were particularly challenging due to the steep access to the site and poor state of repair of the circa-1910 villa. We had originally engaged them to carry out minor renovations to the laundry, however, removal of the existing tiled flooring and Gib-board revealed extensive water ingress throughout the entire dwelling. The team stayed on for over 6 months until the entire house had been repaired to a high professional standard.
Orkney Construction made time at short notice to design and install around 25 metres of fencing and handrails at our Brooklyn home. They worked to a tight deadline and went the extra mile to ensure we could list our home for sale by the second week of September.

Why might I need 'Contract Works' insurance?
Contract Works Insurance is recommended for all work, whether renovations or new builds. This insurance covers the work being undertaken and the existing structures around it (including acts
of God).
Orkney Construction arranges this cover for new builds only – for all other work, it is the client’s responsibility.

Do you do roof repairs or waterproofing for decks?
Yes, Orkney Roofing looks after all your roofing and waterproofing needs. Please complete this form on the Roofing page to discuss your roofing and waterproofing requirements, and one of our team will get back to you.

Can I request a fixed price for my job?
Due to the fluctuating costs of materials in the current market, we are unable to give a fixed cost, but we strive to give estimates within 10% of the final cost of the project.

Do you have liability insurance?
Yes, we do. We have $2M public liability cover.

Do you offer free quotes?
It depends on the size of the project, but for most jobs, we use a professional Quantity Surveyor for which there is a charge.

What services do you offer?
We do alterations and renovations as well as new residential builds (our in-house architect can help with your design needs). We also build high performing homes for our sister Company, Green Abode (see www.greenabode.co.nz for more information).

Do you remove asbestos?
We can arrange to have asbestos removed from your job.

What sort of guarantees do you offer?
We offer the 10-year Master Build guarantee on all projects valued at over $30,000.00. It is mandatory for us to offer this to you, but you have the option of ‘opting out’ should you wish to do so.

We offer standard LBP warranty and product-specific warranties which vary depending on the products used.
